Living in Meyrin
Meyrin grew from 1960 with the Cité de Meyrin, described as Switzerland's first satellite town. It hosts CERN and a large business zone (ZIMEYSA), making it a major employment hub.
Since 2013, the Les Vergers eco-district has added about 1,350 homes designed around walking and cycling.
Mid-range rents
Who it suits

What we like
- CERN and many employers in the municipality.
- Les Vergers eco-district: Minergie A buildings, cooperatives, local shops.
- Forum Meyrin (theatre) and the Alpine Botanical Garden.
- The airport next door.
Getting around
- Trams 14 (Meyrin-Gravière) and 18 (Meyrin-CERN) to Cornavin and the centre.
- Meyrin and Zimeysa Léman Express stations (line L5).
Urban projects
- Les Vergers — About 1,350 homes in 30 buildings: half market-rate and owner-occupied, a quarter public-interest, a quarter subsidised; construction started in 2013.
- L'Étang — New district on the Vernier border (see Vernier).
Good to know
- Aircraft noise in some areas.
- Contrast between the 1960s estate and the new districts.
